I confess that I have always been a great fan of this wine. I followed it since the beginning (1999), along with the top of the range. A wine in the range of 10 euros, but that was worth more. We knew it was an always safe bet. At the restaurant for example. I confess that with the great array of wines we have / must taste, in the last 2-3 years I had been more distracted about it. The other day, I went to a restaurant with some friends and ordered a “Meandro” 2013. We all screwed up. A very banal wine, with too much acidity and little flavor. I thought that surely the bottle had not been well stored, and the wine did not evolve well.
On my birthday, they offered me 2 bottles of Meandro 14. I opened the first one with my wife’s cow stew which was delicious. Wine: a relatively intense aroma to red fruits … but then in the mouth … a disappointment … a banal wine, without flavour, with forgettable end … that thing … looked like a wine of the range of 5 euros down.
Two or three days later, I opened the other bottle. The same thing. Nothing new to mention.
I got sad.
I do not remember well enough, but I have an idea that 2012 still pleased me as usual. Will it be a downgrade of “Meandro”? It’s a shame.
Price: 10-11€
