“Caves São João” are celebrating the decade before their 100th anniversary, with an annual launch of a special wine, referring to the decade in question. After the “arinto” (very good by the way) of last year, this year, to commemorate the 96th anniversary, and having the 80’s as a backdrop, they decided to launch a Chardonnay even from the 80’s !!!!! … a barrel that was lost for a long time …
The color is brownish, denoting evolution which is not a surprise. The aroma too. In the mouth it is liquefied, it is still drinkable, but in practice it is a “past wine”, although drinkable and minimally pleasant. There are people who like these little treasures. I do not think that way. I think it’s just a curiosity … and an expensive curiosity.
