Restaurant “O Manjar do Marquês – Pombal”

Se souberem de outro igual, por favor, digam-me!!! Estou a falar a sério!

  • Country: Portugal
  • Region: Bairrada
  • Producer: Campolargo
  • Type: Red wine
  • Alcohol Content: 12.5% vol.
  • Price: 25 euros

85% of “Touriga Nacional” completed with “Castelão Nacional” and Cabernet Sauvignon. One year of stage in used barrels. The aroma does not denote evolution, and indeed, in the mouth is a beautiful surprise. The wine is new, gorgeous, alive and very elegant. It is not full bodied, but surprises in elegance. And the ending is also very nice. It’s an aristocratic wine! Like few in Portugal.

Procura 2012

  • Country: Portugal
  • Region: Alentejo
  • Producer: Susana Esteban
  • Type: Red wine
  • Alcohol Content: 14.5% vol.
  • Price: 30 euros

Small production of old vineyards in the area of “Portalegre”. This is the 2nd edition of this wine by the hand of this Galician winemaker. An “Alicante Bouschet” that also surprises: early in the aroma, with very intense red fruit. In blind trial I would say it was a Douro wine !!! In the mouth it is very intense, with very tasty fruit, very full bodied, almost chewed … and the final (with a lot of acidity) denotes that it is still very young, that it will last more than ten years with high performance, and whose peak still delay.

Quinta de S. José 2013

  • Country: Portugal
  • Region: Douro
  • Producer: João Brito e Cunha, Lda
  • Type: Red wine
  • Alcohol Content: 14% vol.
  • Price: 22 euros

This is a typical “Douro”. Made from “Touriga Nacional” and “Touriga Franca”, it staged 12 months in French oak barrels. The aroma does not deceive, and is one of the strengths of this wine. In the mouth it is pleasant, tasty, but its overall balance still denotes its youth. And the end is still not well polished yet. It is a good wine, especially for those who like the typical “Douros”.
