About 2 years ago Jorge Moreira toasted us with a novelty: The White “Poeira”. This wine already existed before. But it was with the harvest of 2012 that this new thing appeared with just over 2500 bottles.
I vaguely remember sampling it as a young man: it looked like a vigorous white, fat, tasty, with the potential to last several years. I saved in the basement 1 bottle to open later … It was today:
Color loaded, denoting eventual evolution … The aroma confirms the appearance, and I fear the worst. In the mouth confirms some “taste the evolution”, elegant body, and then a bit bitter end. Looks like it’s Alvarinho’s mono-variety … Impossible to find out. An unpleasant surprise. Expected everything but this: a full-bodied wine of 30 euros that did not withstand 2 years in the basement.
Difficult to rate. Maybe I should not even rate it. But anyway, here goes: 14v.
Price: 30€
