The Bodegas Protos are, along with others (Aalto, Vega Sicilia, Pesquera …), an unconditional reference of Ribera del Duero. With wines based on the traditional Tempranillo variety. This is a typical example. The nose is brutal: the intense fruit, the toasted and chocolaty are divine. I’m expecting a bomb in my mouth. And that’s what happens: a full wine, very full-bodied but very tasty, with a somewhat bitter ending, perhaps due to excess of wood. It is therefore not an elegant wine, and has this defect at the end (which regardless of what is said, is prolonged). It costs around 50 euros. But if you like a full-bodied, powerful but delicious wine, you will not be disappointed.
