Madre De Água Touriga Nacional 2011
At the western end of Serra da Estrela, in Vinhó-Gouveia, we find a new producer. Which is also a 4 star Rural Hotel, and which produces cheese, curd, jams, olive oil and other regional products. There is also a beautiful restaurant under the care of chef António Batista (formerly Quinta de Cabriz). This 2011 was the first harvest, being the oenology still of the responsibility of Hugo Chaves (Quinta de Lemos) that meanwhile came out. The 2012 harvest did not go so well (and this was reflected in the price of the bottles). It seems that it is Paulo Nunes (from Passarella) who is going to start giving advice. They also have 2 whites wines, 1 syrah (rare thing in Dão) and 1 interesting rosé.
The aroma of the caste is a bit closed. In the mouth it is smooth, elegant, tasty and fruity. The end is short but it is also far from being wild.
