When we open an old Tawny Sandeman, expectations are high. Sogrape’s top-of-the-range brand, it is mainly these old tawnys that usually shine. So this (bottled up in 2013) was a little let down. Not that it was bad, but because we expected so much more. Far from the last one we had tasted (40 years, bottled in 1999), that is a nectar of the gods. A strong aroma of nuts but already denoting what we will feel in our mouth: alcohol. Full-bodied as you would expect, honey and nuts are there, but it’s the alcohol that reigns. Long end but not endless.
Price: 120 Euros
